Location Settings

Overview

Location Settings let you rename a location, change its map co-ordinates, designate it as project-wide, set its status, or tag it for filtering. Only Administrators, Project Managers, and assigned Project Supervisors can edit Location Settings.


Opening Location Settings

  1. From the home screen, find the location card.
  2. Click the ⋮ (three dots) on the card.
  3. Select Settings. The Location Settings panel slides out from the right.

Adjust Location name, reference flag, and coordinates here.

Basic Fields

Location name
Renames the location. Existing datasets and features are preserved.
Co-ordinates (Latitude / Longitude)
Updates the map pin position on the Map view. Click the map icon to open a map picker, or type Latitude and Longitude directly.

Advanced Options

Click the sliders icon next to the location name (top-right of the panel) to expand Advanced Options:

Project Wide Availability
Tick to make this a Reference Location — data uploaded here becomes available across every location in the project. See Reference Locations.
Status
Set the location's lifecycle state: Open (active), Finished (work complete), or Closed (archived). Useful for filtering large location lists.
Tags
Add free-form project tags to group, search, and filter locations. Type a tag in the Add project tag field and click the +.
💡 Tip: Use consistent tags across locations to make the search bar far more useful — e.g. 2026, highway, client-acme.

Saving Changes

Click Save at the bottom of the panel. Changes take effect immediately. Click Cancel or to discard.


Other Options on the Location ⋮ Menu

  • Share — give other users access (see Sharing Projects & Locations)
  • Export — export this location's data (see Exporting Data)
  • Delete — permanently remove the location (cannot be undone)
  • Create Layer File… — add a custom WMS or tile layer (see WMS & Custom Raster Layers)
  • Uploaded Files — review every file uploaded to this location
