User roles & permissions
What each of the seven roles can see and do.
Overview
Every user has a role controlling access — seven roles are avaialble, from most to least permissive.
The Seven Roles
Role
Description
Administrator
Full platform access. Only role that can create other Administrators, invite and manage all users, and create/edit/delete any project or location.
Project Manager
Creates projects and locations, uploads data, shares projects/locations, creates and edits features, invites and manages users (not Administrators).
Project Supervisor
Assigned to specific projects/locations. Uploads and manages data, shares assigned locations, invites and manages users (not Administrators).
Editor
Creates and edits features (points, lines, polygons) in shared locations. Views data layers and uses measuring tools. Can download raw data uploaded into the system.
Viewer
View-only. Views data layers and uses measuring tools. Cannot create features, upload, or share.
Mobile-User
Mobile app for on-site data capture plus read access in the web portal.
Mobile-Only
Mobile app only. No web portal access.

⚠️ Administrator-only exception: Only Administrators can create other Administrators — Managers and Supervisors cannot.
ℹ️ Project access scope: Administrators and Project Managers see every project automatically; all other roles see only what is explicitly shared with them. See Sharing Projects & Locations.
How Roles and Sharing Work Together
A role sets the maximum access level; users only see data explicitly shared with them. A Viewer with nothing shared sees an empty home screen.
