Reference Locations

Overview

Reference Locations (introduced in portal v1.80) let you upload a dataset once and make it available across every location in the same project — without duplicating files.

Example: A project-wide aerial survey orthomosaic that all teams need as a base layer. Upload it once to a Reference Location and it becomes available to every other location in the project.

Setting Up a Reference Location

  1. Open the Location settings for the location you want to designate as a reference.
  2. Tick Project Wide Availability.
  3. Save the settings.

Any data uploaded to this location is now accessible from all other locations in the project.

Mark a location as Reference from its settings to use it as the project baseline.
💡 Tip: Use a clear naming convention for Reference Locations — e.g. prefix with [REF] — so they're easy to identify in the directory.
