Secondary Features — Parallel Lines

Overview

The Parallel Lines secondary feature auto-generates N parallel linear features at a configurable offset from a parent linear feature. Use it to capture parallel utility cables, fence lines, or any linear assets that run in formation alongside a primary survey line.

ℹ️ App version: Soarvo Mobile 0.0.126+. Secondary features regenerate on parent edit and delete with the parent.

Parent Feature Type Setup

Create a linear feature type with these attributes:

  • _secondary_feature (short text) — default value ParallelLines
  • _parallel_line_feature_type_name (short text) — default value = name of the child feature type (e.g. ParallelLine)
  • ParallelLineSpacing (numeric, metres)
  • NumOfParallelLines (numeric)
  • CapturedLineSide (radio) — options: Left, Right, Middle

CapturedLineSide behaviour:

  • Left — parent is leftmost; all child lines generate to the right
  • Right — parent is rightmost; all child lines generate to the left
  • Middle — parent is in the middle; children alternate left/right/left/right…

Child Feature Type Setup

Create a linear feature type with the exact name you set in _parallel_line_feature_type_name on the parent.

💡 Tip: To copy attribute values from parent to children, give the child feature type an attribute with the same name as the parent attribute. The value is copied automatically when the child is generated.

Mobile Workflow

  1. Create a feature of the parent feature type in the mobile app.
  2. Capture the line along your primary asset.
  3. Set Spacing, Number of Parallel Lines, and Captured Line Side.
  4. Save — the child parallel lines generate automatically at the configured offset.
