Auto Add Linear/Area Nodes

Overview

Auto-add nodes lets a surveyor walk a route and have Soarvo Mobile automatically drop nodes onto a linear or area feature whenever they move more than a configurable distance. Faster and more consistent than tapping the map for every vertex.

ℹ️ App version: Soarvo Mobile 0.0.141+.

How to Enable Auto-Add Nodes

In the web portal, edit the linear or area feature type you want to enable auto-add for:

  1. Add a numerical attribute named _AUTO_ADD_NODES.
  2. Set its default value to !MODIFIER-HIDE;1.23 — where 1.23 is the minimum distance in metres before a new node is added.

The !MODIFIER-HIDE prefix hides this attribute from the user-facing form; the semicolon separates the modifier from the actual default value.

Using It in the Field

  1. Start a new linear or area feature.
  2. If the feature has no existing nodes, your current position is added as the first node.
  3. Tap the Start button to begin auto-adding nodes as you walk.
  4. Each time your distance from the last node exceeds the configured threshold, a new node is added.
  5. Tap Stop to pause auto-adding. You can resume with Start again, or save the feature.
💡 Tip: Pick the threshold based on your survey precision needs. 0.5–1.0m is typical for utility tracing; 3–5m for general boundary walking.
